Dominating The B Ride: Shameful Or "Awesome!" ?

There is a question that can be phrased many different ways but, at it's core, reveals who we are as individuals. Would you rather be the best player on the AND-1 "Mix Tape" Tour...or...be the fifth-man on the bench for the Los Angeles Lakers? Think about it...

Though it would be entertaining to explore Mongo's streetball roots in the mean streets of Miami, and how I got the nickname "Set Shot of Tequila", I must move on to the subject at hand.

This past Friday, Mongo showed up again for the moderate-paced group ride at the shop. At its inception, the ride was meant to be social and easy going, but as is the case when a bunch of cyclists come together, people want to test themselves and each other. Though none of the riders in this bunch could hang at the Monday Hammerfest, they always find it necessary to test the stronger riders who are there just to get in a quick one...like Mongo!

Mongo was joined on Friday by teammate, and soon to be two-time defending Hammerfest Champion, "Sweet Georgia" Clay, along with fellow team members and shop owners, Tom "Boonen" and "Doo doo" Brown...and about ten other boys and girls.

Cutting to the chase of what is becoming a boring story, there was an attack with about three miles to go from which Clay and I pulled away at the end and won easily. My point is this...Mongo finds no joy in sandbagging!
